Mission Statement
The mission of the Fire Department is to minimize loss of life and property from fires, natural disasters, life threatening situations and to assist other emergency agencies. The Fire Department is Committed to providing responsible municipal service in an open, effective and efficient manner to all citizens of the City of Cambridge and the Fire Service Area. The ultimate goal is to preserve and enhance the quality of life for future generations.

Department Structure
The Cambridge Fire Department is a 35-member paid, on-call department. The Fire Department responds when dispatched by 911. The Department has one chief, one assistant chief, a deputy chief, four squad captains, and 28 line firefighters.

- Fire safety education and prevention
- Extrication (response to motor vehicle accidents)
- Technical rescue (High-Low Angle and Confined Space)
- Water and Ice Rescue
- Hazardous Materials Response
- Emergency Medical Response
The Fire Department has a protection area of 99 square miles. In addition to the City of Cambridge, the Department also serves the townships of Cambridge, Bradford, Fish Lake, Isanti, North Branch, and Springvale.
