Home Menu2024 Street and Central Drive Trail Improvements
(Prepared September 5th, 2024)
Construction continues on this year’s street improvement project! Douglas-Kerr Underground is the Contractor for this project. All work is scheduled to be complete by early September. The project consists of reconstructing the streets in the south half of the Goldenwood Area (streets between Central Avenue and 34th Ave SW, and west of South Main Street as well as other surrounding neighborhood streets). The project is being split into two phases to help minimize the disruption period for the area.
The improvements include the following:
- Replacing the existing concrete curb and pavement.
- Replacing the existing trail pavements.
- Performing some isolated storm sewer, water main and sanitary sewer repairs.
- Removing and repairing some existing retaining walls.
- Relocating and installing new some streetlights for a uniform system
Current and Planned Work
Goldenwood Phase 1 Area (All streets south of Central Avenue and East of East Rum River Drive except Norway Circle and Laurel St. S north of 32nd Ave SW):
- Sod is installed on phase 1. Final paving will take place the week of the 23rd.
Goldenwood Phase 2 Area (East Rum River Drive, Central Avenue, Laurel St. north of 32nd, and Norway Circle):
- Final paving will take place the week of the 23rd.
- Signs will be installed next week.
- Sodding should be wrapping up on phase 2 as the week ends.
- Most mailboxes have been reinstalled. Any remaining boxes will be installed next week.
- Manholes and Gate Valves are being raised prior to paving. The holes will be patched with pavement prior to the final lift.
Access: In general, the Contractor will provide access to all properties during construction. While pipe and curb installation is done directly in front of a property, then driveway access will not be possible. The Contractor will provide advance notice of this, and temporary parking arrangements will be reviewed.
Mail Service: Mail service will continue with temporary mailboxes are being set up on Maple Dr. S until the new curb is placed and the existing boxes can be reinstalled.
As construction progresses, please use caution traveling within the project area. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If there are any questions or comments regarding the project, please contact one of the contacts listed below.
