The City of Cambridge is seeking applicants for the position of a full-time Water & Wastewater Operator.  Responsibilities include the efficient operation and maintenance of our extended aeration wastewater treatment plant and an iron, manganese, and radium removal water treatment plant to ensure public safety and meet our permit requirements.  The position also works on the collection, distribution and radio read water meter systems.  The position is straight days with a rotating on-call schedule to cover the weekends and emergency needs.

Minimum qualifications: A high school diploma or (GED), possess a current Minnesota Class D Water Operators License, and a Minnesota Class D Wastewater Operators License prior to starting employment. Applicants must possess or be able to obtain a Class B commercial driver’s license within six months of the hire date. Salary will commensurate with experience; salary range and benefits per union contract. Performs non-supervisory manual labor undertaking maintenance tasks related to City parks.  Also assists in maintenance tasks performed in other public works areas such as asphalt patching, line painting, storm sewer cleaning, etc.  This position is highly visible to public while performing work tasks. 

  • Follows safe working practices as outlined in the City of Cambridge AWAIR Program. 

    Maintains the appearance and safety of all city parks and public property owned by the City.  Maintains buildings, uses riding or push mower to cut grass, fertilizes fields, applies lime to ball fields, maintains trees and shrubs, controls weeds, maintains fences, signs, tennis courts and nets, bleachers, and general landscaping tasks.  Maintain grounds and around water tower sites, lift stations, City Hall, and other public property owned by the City.

  • Assists public works with street patching, shoulder work, tree trimming, ditch cleaning, right of way clearing, hydrant painting, line painting, and sign repair.    Operates equipment which includes bobcat, tractors, mowers, chain saws, weed whips, and other miscellaneous power equipment. Wide use of a variety of hand tools.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and some knowledge/skills related to park maintenance including experience with mowing and equipment maintenance as well as managing turf, trees and shrubs.  Ability to be trained to assist public works operations and use of all public works equipment.  Must be 18 years old.
