Welcome to the Cambridge Police Department

Message from Police Chief Todd Schuster

On behalf of the entire staff at the Cambridge Police Department, I welcome you to our department website. The mission of the Cambridge Police Department is to maintain a safe city by working in partnership with the community to prevent and reduce crime, protect life and property, and protect the rights of all through law enforcement, education, and outreach.

I want to assure everyone that we are dedicated to providing quality policing services to all members of the community to reduce crime as well as the fear of crime. All the officers and staff strive toward delivering the best possible customer service. We provide services in the areas of patrol operations, investigations, crime prevention, school resource, animal control, records administration and police support.

The Cambridge Police Department currently consists of 14 officers who hold all levels of educational achievements, including Associates, Bachelors and Masters Degrees. A goal of mine is to select, train and retain the best candidates for our department. The responsibilities of our police officers include responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, aggressive enforcement of traffic laws, thoroughly investigating criminal activity, effecting arrests as prescribed by law, and many other daily activities which help keep the residents of Cambridge safe. Officers respond to medical emergencies with paramedics from Allina Health, who provide in-depth care and transport injured persons to the hospital. The equipment Officers’ carry and use today is current with technological advances in law enforcement. The Cambridge Police Department recognizes that our duties go beyond answering 911 calls and seek to be an agency that values both proactive enforcement as well as outreach to the community we serve.

Thank you,
Todd S. Schuster
Chief of Police
